Nourishing Kiwi Families, One Bite at a Time

Practical, evidence-based nutrition support for pregnancy, babies, toddlers and the whole family

Hello, I’m Julia Scott

I'm a registered dietitian, mum, host of the Little Bites podcast, and creator of the Starting Solids course. I support families across New Zealand with clear, practical and evidenced-based nutrition advice.

Whether you’re pregnant and not sure what to eat (or what to avoid), starting solids and feeling overwhelmed by all the opinions out there, managing a picky toddler who only eats toast, or trying to simplify healthy eating for your whole family, I’m here to help.

I also support adults who want to feel better and more confident about food, whether you're working on improving your energy levels, supporting gut health, building balanced habits, or navigating a specific health condition like diabetes, high cholesterol, or IBS.

Through 1:1 consults, my online course, helpful blog posts, and honest conversations on the Little Bites podcast, I’ll help you feel more confident about food, for you, your kids, and your whole family.

What I Do

I mix the latest research with down-to-earth strategies to help you feel calm and confident about food. My approach is supportive, non-judgemental, and always practical.

  • As a registered dietitian, I offer personalised nutrition support tailored to your unique needs, lifestyle, and health goals. Whether you're managing a medical condition like diabetes, IBS, or high cholesterol, navigating pregnancy or postpartum nutrition, or looking to improve your family’s eating habits, I provide practical, evidence-based advice.

My approach is supportive, realistic, and focused on helping you build long-term habits without restrictive diets or overwhelm. Together, we’ll create a clear, sustainable plan that fits your life, whether that’s meal ideas, supplement guidance, or strategies to feel more confident about food.

Consultations are available online, with flexible options for individuals, families, and children.

  • Pregnancy comes with a lot of questions, and I’m here to help you feel confident about what you're eating and why. As a registered dietitian, I provide personalised nutrition advice to support you through every stage of pregnancy, from conception to postpartum.

Whether you're dealing with morning sickness, managing gestational diabetes, following a plant-based diet, or just want to make sure you're covering all your nutritional bases, I offer realistic, evidence-based guidance that fits your lifestyle.

Alongside one-on-one consults, I also share helpful tips, recipes, and pregnancy-friendly nutrition info on my blog and weekly on the Little Bites podcast, perfect if you like learning in bite-sized, practical ways.

Nutrition during pregnancy doesn’t have to be confusing. I’ll help you cut through the noise and feel good about the choices you’re making for you and your baby.

  • Starting solids is an exciting (and sometimes overwhelming) stage, and I’m here to help make it easier, clearer, and more enjoyable for both you and your baby.

As a registered dietitian specialising in infant and toddler nutrition, I support parents with personalised advice on when and how to introduce solids, whether you're spoon-feeding, trying baby-led weaning, or doing a mix of both. I cover everything from iron-rich first foods and allergen introduction to texture progression, meal planning, and managing feeding challenges.

Alongside one-on-one consults, I offer a self-paced online course called Starting Solids, that walks you through everything you need to know about starting solids with confidence. You can also find recipes and practical tips on my blog, or tune in to the Little Bites podcast for down-to-earth conversations about feeding babies, toddlers, and young families.

Wherever you're at in your feeding journey, I'm here to support you with evidence-based guidance tailored to your baby and your parenting style.

  • Feeding toddlers and preschoolers can be full of ups and downs, from food refusal and fussy eating to constant snacking and mealtime battles. As a registered dietitian, I help take the stress out of feeding your little one with practical, evidence-based strategies tailored to your family.

I offer one-on-one support for common challenges like picky eating, iron intake, balanced meals, growth concerns, and creating positive mealtime routines. Whether you're worried your toddler isn’t eating enough (or only eating beige foods!) or just want to feel more confident about their nutrition, I’m here to help.

You’ll also find loads of helpful tips and ideas on my blog and through the Little Bites podcast, both designed to give you real-life, judgement-free support.
